The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
We are looking for a researcher to join our team in the FINATRAX Research Group, which builds bridges between business research and information systems engineering.
As a successful candidate, you will work at the intersection of data science, blockchain technology, and financial crime prevention, performing tasks such as:
* Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable pipelines that ingest raw on-chain data from public blockchains into research-grade databases,
* Developing statistical, graph, and/or machine learning models to study transaction networks, illicit transaction patterns, and DeFi protocol operations,
* Collaborating with researchers in law, finance, and economics on topics such as governance, regulatory compliance, sustainability, and digital identity,
* Disseminating results by publishing in highly-ranked outlets in information systems and computer science,
* Communicating and working with governmental stakeholders, analytics vendors, and financial institutions to gather requirements, obtain datasets, and validate results,
* Managing research projects and deliverables, as well as preparing research proposals to attract public and private funding,
* Mentoring and supervising PhD students and student assistants working on related topics.

Key Requirements
* PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field,
* Strong background in blockchain technology, data science, and programming languages such as Python and R,
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills,
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously,
* Fluency in English and proficiency in other languages such as German, French, or Luxembourgish.
