Field Applications Engineer
About the Role
As a Field Applications Engineer at ADI, you will provide technical expertise to support sales efforts through presentations, product demonstrations, and development of customized solutions. You will act as a technical consultant bridging sales strategy and customer needs, supporting pre-sales activities including customer needs assessment, solution development, and product validation. This role requires strong technical skills combined with customer-facing abilities to drive design-ins and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
 1. Customer Technical Support: Provide comprehensive technical support to customers in implementing ADI solutions, serving as the primary technical interface between customers and internal teams
 2. Solution Development: Design, develop, and customize technical solutions to meet specific customer requirements and business needs
 3. Needs Assessment: Assess customer technical needs and translate them into detailed product specifications for optimal solution design
 4. Product Demonstration: Create and deliver rapid prototypes and tailored demos to validate product feasibility and showcase solutions to customers
 5. Product Validation: Validate and test product capabilities to ensure they meet customer requirements and expectations
 6. System Integration: Design and integrate ADI products into customer systems, optimizing performance and functionality
 7. Technical Communication: Deliver clear technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences and create detailed application notes
 8. Troubleshooting: Debug and resolve customer issues at the system level, providing timely and effective solutions
 9. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work effectively with design, applications, and marketing teams to support customer needs and new product introductions
Must Have Skills
 10. Product Demonstration and Prototyping: Strong ability to create functioning prototypes and deliver compelling product demonstrations that showcase solutions effectively to customers
 11. Solution Development and Customization: Demonstrated capability in designing and customizing technical solutions to match specific customer requirements and use cases
 12. Technical Consultation: Proficiency in assessing customer needs, identifying optimal solutions, and providing expert technical advice throughout the sales process
 13. Product Capability Validation: Ability to thoroughly test and validate product capabilities against customer requirements, ensuring solutions meet performance specifications
 14. System Design and Integration: Knowledge of system design principles and experience integrating products into customer systems with attention to overall system performance
 15. Technical Presentation: Strong skills in communicating complex technical concepts clearly to various audiences, adapting presentation style based on technical knowledge level
 16. Technical Documentation: Ability to create detailed, accurate technical documentation including application notes, test reports, and solution specifications
Preferred Education and Experience
 17. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
 18. 3-5 years of field application engineering or related technical experience
 19. Experience with analog and mixed-signal circuits, embedded systems, and microcontrollers
 20. Knowledge of common communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART)
 21. Programming skills in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB
 22. Familiarity with semiconductor products and technologies
 23. Experience in one or more key markets (industrial, automotive, healthcare)
 24. Willingness to travel up to 25% to support customer engagements
