The Opportunity
The new Market Research business unit will be focused on data monetization, market intelligence, and research-driven revenue. The General Manager of Mode Market Research will build this business from the ground up, own multiple revenue streams, and turn underutilized data assets into meaningful profit centers. We are looking for a founder-minded General Manager to build this business from zero to recurring, enterprise-grade revenue.

The GM of Mode Market Research will own four data monetization segments and one existing web product. The mission is to create revenue lines, structure partnerships, collaborate with the Chief Data Officer and product teams, and scale each business into an independent profit engine with dedicated staff. The first phase is hands‑on execution. Hiring follows once revenue baselines are met. This role blends data strategy, partnerships, product execution, and full P&L responsibility.

This is not a traditional management role. This is a revenue-building, hands‑on operator role with full ownership.

AI & Data Innovation Ownership

Design and implement AI-driven data products, including predictive models, LLM-powered insights, and automated reporting tools

Leverage modern AI stacks (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, vector databases) to transform raw datasets into scalable intelligence products

Identify opportunities to replace manual workflows with agentic AI systems that accelerate revenue generation

Partner with the Chief Data Officer to integrate AI capabilities into Mode’s data infrastructure and EarnOS ecosystem

What You’ll Own
Audience and Profile Data Monetization
Build Mode’s audience and profile data business by defining datasets, structuring a centralized data lake, and partnering with major marketplaces.

Monetize email lists, user profiles, and audience data across Mode’s product portfolio

Partner closely with the Chief Data Officer to structure scalable data pipelines

Establish and manage partnerships with data marketplaces and identity platforms (e.g., LiveRamp, Experian, and similar platforms)

Build revenue before adding dedicated sales support

Receipt Scanning and Commerce Intelligence
Turn existing receipt-scanning and Trimbox shopping data into institutional-grade purchase intelligence.

Standardize purchase and transaction data across Mode product lines

Collaborate with the Chief Data Officer and product teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and usability

Establish direct sales relationships and channels with hedge funds and research buyers

App Usage, Installed App Graph, and Web Behavior
Scale Mode’s market-data business by selling insights directly to enterprise buyers.

Expand Mode’s app usage and behavioral intelligence offerings beyond SDK-based monetization

Co‑own the vertical in partnership with the GM of Mode Earn App

Work with the Chief Data Officer to improve data completeness, coverage, and reliability

Location Data Monetization
Rebuild Mode’s geo‑data revenue line and expand it with new high‑value partners.

Identify up to three profitable location‑data partners

Work with the product org on integration

Co‑own this vertical with the GM of Earn App

Who You Are
You are a founder‑style builder who:

Has built or scaled 6‑7 figure ARR in data, SaaS, or analytics businesses

Has sold directly to enterprise or institutional buyers

Thinks in terms of margin and lifetime value

Is comfortable operating without a large team

Moves quickly and eliminates ambiguity

Understands privacy frameworks and data governance standards

You are as comfortable closing a contract as you are defining the product.

Success Profile
The ideal candidate collaborates closely with product, data, business development, and revenue. You’ll execute quickly, eliminate ambiguity, and build repeatable revenue lines from assets that already exist within the business. You are comfortable starting as an operator and evolving into a leader who hires and manages a small team.
