Associate Medical Director – Strategic Country Role (Biotech)
Location: Home-based (Germany preferred) | Reports to: Country Medical Director & GM
About the Role
We’re seeking a strategic medical leader who can bring clarity to complex launches, map and engage KOL networks, and shape medical affairs strategy across multiple therapeutic areas. This is a high-impact position, ideal for someone who thrives in cross-functional, fast-paced environments and wants to help shape one of the most exciting pipelines in biotech.
You’ll set the medical blueprint for the country—from launch planning and scientific engagement to aligning commercial and clinical functions for success.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with the Country Medical Director and General Manager to define and execute country-level medical strategy.
* Strong interactions with Bfarm and working closely with the Market Access Lead supporting GBA discussions (providing important Medical affairs input).
* Leading a team of 2-4 Medical Managers.
* Lead launch readiness for new indications, including pre-launch planning and post-launch optimization.
* Identify opportunities for evidence generation: clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, and real-world data.
* Collaborate with global and regional teams across medical, regulatory, HEOR, and commercial to align on country priorities.
* Contribute to medical budgets, events, and activity planning to ensure maximum scientific impact.
* Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to field medical teams (MSLs, Medical Advisors).
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Essential: G-BA, AMNOG process and Bfarm experiences - must be able to provide working examples of your involvement here.
* Essential: Leadership experience - ideally in a Medical Affairs setting but Leadership (direct line, not matrix) of any background is fine.
* Essential: Pharma or Biotech experience - naturally hard to have GBA/AMNOG without it - but making it clear.
* Essential: German Medical Affairs experience - those working Globally or European and only have very, very limited DE experience unlikely to work. Exception could be for German speakers based in Germany.
* Proven experience in Medical Affairs, ideally as a Medical Advisor, Medical Manager, or Associate Medical Director.
* Cross-functional therapeutic knowledge in areas such as CNS, Neurology, Immunology, or Inflammation. (Broader experience is preferred over narrow/single-focus backgrounds such as pure Oncology.)
* Language: German is highly desireable though technically not mandatory.
* Travel: Role is home-based (Germany) with occasional site, KOL, and conference visits.
Friendly Note:
* I will try to invite all those who are relevant but I can tell you now - if you have NEVER supported German related launches, worked in Germany and have little to no reimbursement, G-BA, AMNOG or BfArm experience - it will not work.
Why Apply?
* Shape the future of one of biotech’s most exciting and diversified pipelines (23+ indications in development).
* High visibility role working closely with country leadership and global stakeholders.
* Flexible environment that rewards initiative, creativity, and strategic thinking.
* Join a company that blends global scale with a nimble, entrepreneurial mindset.
* Be part of launching innovative treatments across rare, specialty, and high-impact diseases.
* Salary: €135,000 - €160,000 + Bonuses + LTIs
