Enterprise Messaging Engineer Role
As a key member of the enterprise messaging team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our middleware services. Your primary focus will be on managing and optimizing integration platforms, contributing to automation initiatives, and supporting continuous improvement of system reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain Integration Ecosystem Health:
* Oversee the operational integrity of our enterprise service bus (ESB) landscape—monitor availability, performance, and errors to detect and resolve issues before they impact business operations.
* Support Core Middleware Services:
* Determine ongoing support and maintenance for IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM MQ, ITX, and WSO2 Micro-integrator deployed in Linux environments.
* Drive Middleware Upgrades & Maintenance:
* Perform patching, upgrades, and system improvements to ensure compliance with security standards and technological advancements.
* Ensure Resilience:
* Participate in disaster recovery and high availability tests to validate business continuity and failover strategies.
* Enable Operational Efficiency:
* Audit recurring tasks and deployment workflows using tools like Ansible and Azure DevOps, reducing manual effort and operational risk.
* Resolve Incidents & Identify Root Causes:
* Troubleshoot integration and messaging failures, perform in-depth root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes to restore and improve services.
* Deliver Clear Technical Documentation:
* Create and maintain configuration guides, integration blueprints, deployment checklists, and technical handbooks to support internal teams and developers.
* Coordinate with Technology Vendors:
* Act as the technical liaison with middleware solution providers to track escalations and ensure timely resolution of platform-related issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience managing IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and IBM MQ in a production setting.
* Strong command of scripting and debugging tools such as Bash, Python, SOAP UI, and Postman.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools including Git, Jira, Azure DevOps, and logging platforms like Splunk or ELK.
* Competence in Java or similar languages for reviewing or enhancing integration code.
* Working knowledge of IBM Transformation Extender (ITX) and its data mapping capabilities.
* Experience processing SWIFT financial messages (MT and MX formats).
* Skills in building message flows and data transformations using eSQL, XSLT, or native ACE features.
* Understanding of message transport protocols such as MQ, REST, SOAP, and SFTP.
* Awareness of identity and access protocols (OAuth, SAML, etc.).
* Practical knowledge of SQL for data queries within integration contexts.
