Position Overview
Autodesk’s Viewer Platform powers high-performance 2D and 3D visualization experiences across our product portfolio. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and deliver scalable viewer capabilities that enable our users to interact with complex models in real time. You will work across rendering workflows, APIs, and platform services to build robust and extensible solutions.
You will own complex features and clearly defined subsystems end-to-end, from problem clarification and technical design through implementation, deployment, and production support. You will contribute to architectural decisions and ensure performance, reliability, and maintainability across the platform. This role combines deep hands-on engineering with cross-functional collaboration and growing technical leadership within a modern, cloud-enabled ecosystem.
Responsibilities
1. Design and implement complex viewer features and subsystems, including rendering workflows, APIs, and platform services
2. Own features and clearly defined subsystems end-to-end: clarify requirements, define technical design, implement, test, deploy, and support in production
3. Drive performance improvements for large-scale 2D/3D model rendering, memory efficiency, and client responsiveness
4. Design solutions with clear system boundaries and scalability considerations across components and services
5. Evaluate and make informed trade-offs across components and services, balancing performance, complexity, and long-term maintainability
6. Contribute to architectural decisions that shape extensibility, scalability, and cross-product integrations
7. Partner closely with Product, UX, QA, and platform teams to translate customer workflows into robust technical solutions
8. Lead root-cause analysis for production issues and implement durable fixes and preventative improvements
9. Elevate code quality through rigorous code reviews, automated testing strategies, and CI/CD improvements
10. Mentor developing engineers and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence and accountability
11. Actively participate in Agile delivery, providing accurate estimates and proactively managing technical risks
Minimum Qualifications
12. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
13. 5+ years of professional software development experience delivering production-grade systems
14. Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web technologies (e.g., React or similar frameworks)
15. Experience building scalable, high-performance applications with attention to reliability and maintainability
16. Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and service-oriented architectures
17. Hands-on experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows
18. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex tasks
19. Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
20. Experience working in Agile development environments
Preferred Qualifications
21. Experience with Node.js and cloud-native architectures (e.g., AWS, Docker)
22. Knowledge of performance profiling, memory optimization, and observability tooling
23. Experience contributing to platform-level or cross-team technical initiatives
24. Familiarity with 2D/3D visualization systems or graphics technologies (WebGL/WebGPU)
The Ideal Candidate
You are a strong hands-on engineer who takes ownership of systems end-to-end and is comfortable operating across components and services. You understand how to design scalable solutions, make sound trade-offs, and contribute to architectural decisions.
You are collaborative, proactive, and committed to engineering excellence. You mentor others, communicate clearly across disciplines, and are motivated by building robust platform capabilities that support real-world customer workflows.
