The Neurohomeostasis research group at the University Hospital Bonn is seeking a highly motivated PhD Candidate to contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in the field of neuropsychiatric disorders. The ideal candidate will possess strong background knowledge in cell signaling, proteostasis, and autophagy mechanisms.
The primary role of the PhD Candidate will be to conduct experimental research using advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques, analyze and interpret complex biological data, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance scientific understanding.
To be successful in this position, applicants must have a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or Biochemistry. Strong familiarity with statistical methods, data analysis, and omics data interpretation is also essential.
A key aspect of this role is the opportunity to work on a multidisciplinary project that combines cell models, animal experiments, and human studies to unravel the interplay between metabolic and psychiatric phenotypes.
The offered project aims to establish cellular autophagy as a central mechanism linking bi-directional brain-body interactions in stress-related disorders. This will involve analyses of the autophagic pathway along with plasma proteomics and metabolomic polyamine profiling from human and murine samples.
The team emphasizes a collaborative and dynamic work environment where researchers are encouraged to engage in scientific discussions, present findings at conferences, and contribute to high-impact publications.
Successful applicants will be appointed for 2 years with the possibility of an additional 2 years through partnership with another institution. The salary will be according to TV-L EG13, providing a secure financial foundation for career development.
In addition to competitive compensation, the University Hospital Bonn offers a range of benefits including flexible working time models, support for professional development, and opportunities for further education and training.
We are committed to promoting diversity and equal opportunities within our organization. Women and individuals with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.
