Introduction: A Career at HARMAN Automotive
We're a global, multi-disciplinary team that's putting the innovative power of technology to work and transforming tomorrow. At HARMAN Automotive, we give you the keys to fast-track your career.
* Engineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience
* Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence
* Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment
About The Role
We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking ECU Hardware Architect to lead the design and platform architecture of a next-generation Vehicle Network and Sensor Hardware Platform, The HW Architect and HW Designer combines hands-on hardware design with system-level architecture responsibilities focusing on building a modular, scalable ECU hardware platform. This platform serves as the electronic backbone for distributed and centralized automotive systems, such as ADAS, Infotainment, Audio, and Digital Displays with emphasis on high-bandwidth communications, low latency and sensor fusion.
Your Team
You will be working as Subject Matter Expert (SME) together with your peers in the Center of Excellence Vehicle Networks and Sensor interface team. No direct reports
What You Will Do
* Design and architect the next Generation Vehicle Network and Sensor Interface hardware platforms consisting of support high-speed Ethernet networks and diverse sensor & data interfaces (e.g.: but not limited to: ASA-ML, analog, PDM, I2S, TDM, CSI-2) delivering into Harman platforms, projects and products.
* Develop reference designs & HW building blocks utilizing Modular and scalable HW design methods for Vehicle Computer, Amplifier, Sensors and in vehicle devices. Collaborate with systems architects, software engineers, the HW engineers which integrate your Building blocks in their project/platform/products, and suppliers to ensure future-proof platform architecture and design reuse strategies. Drive platform reuse and modularity, enabling fast adaptation of the platform across the automotive division in HARMAN.
* Drive hardware schematic development, PCB layout guidance, HW design reviews, and integration planning with software and mechanical domains across all HARMAN Automotive business.
* in close alignment with purchasing and component strategy for the selection and integration of key components such as, PHYs, network Switches, transceivers and bridge chips. Monitor & develop aligned component roadmap together with Procurement and key silicon and component partners. Derive Forward looking trends for nextgeneration Interface technologies and engage with our key silicon and component partners to co-develop these.
* Support standardization activities in industry bodies and international standards organizations, like IEEE and open alliance.
What You Need
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
* 7+ years of experience in automotive ECU hardware development, with hands-on experience in Ethernet Networks for ADAS, Infotainment, or Display systems.
* Proven knowledge of in vehicle networks (Automotive Ethernet, AVB/TSN, CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay).
* In-depth understanding of sensor interface technologies, signal conditioning, and automotive-grade components.
* Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (experience in Mentor Graphics will be of advantage).
* Familiarity with ISO 26262 safety concepts, failure mode analysis, EMC/EMI design and diagnostics at ECU level.
* Experience to work with global suppliers
* Knowledge in root cause analyze and problem-solving processes
* Fluent German and English language skills
* Experience with platform-based ECU design supporting modular software stacks (e.g., AUTOSAR, QNX, Android Automotive).
* Hands-on experience with high speed Network interfaces, complex Switch setups, and ADAS & multimedia SoCs.
* Understanding of ADAS sensor fusion architecture, real-time processing, and deterministic networking.
* Exposure to zonal architecture and centralized computing design strategies.
