Your new responsibilities
ams OSRAM is seeking an experienced, skilled and talented patent attorney in Regensburg, Germany to head the IP department’s IP Monetization (MNT) team, which main focus is to capture value from, and in particular monetize the company’s comprehensive IP portfolio.
* Identify, assess and pursue, in alignment with management, IP value capturing and monetization opportunities based on the company’s patent and trademark portfolio, including negotiating, concluding and monitoring respective IP transaction agreements
* Counselling the management with regard to impact, effort and risk of different approaches to exploiting IP with the goal of promoting the company’s product businesses
* Leading a team of three IP monetization/licensing counsels
* Support in devising and implementing IP strategies
* Support the IP department’s IP Portfolio Development team in developing and maintaining a well-structured industry-leading IP portfolio readily available for exploitation with respect to value capturing (monetary value and business contribution), and risk management
What we look for
* Education to MSc or PhD level in physics or electrical engineering, preferably with focus on semiconductors
* Qualification as a Patent Attorney (European, German, Austrian and/or US) with 15+ years of solid post qualification experience within industry
* Extensive experience in IP exploitation, transactions and litigation through negotiating and concluding strategic IP agreements such as patent and trademark license agreements, patent sale/purchase agreements and litigation settlement agreements with operating and non-operating companies
* Excellent business acumen and understanding of value chains and the value-add potential of IP, with a pragmatic and preferably strategic mindset
* Ability to see the big picture whilst working with the necessary detail
* Approachable, team player attitude and confidence in communication with management and external partners
* Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
* Fluency in English and preferably in German language
