In order to support FCAS CC Teams, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a
Network Engineer FCAS (d/f/m).
This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities
Mission of the Job
* Propose and develop methods and strategies for FCAS activities in the area robust and resilient
communications.
* Work tightly integrated inside an Agile Team, interacting not only within Airbus but also with
international partners.
Main activities
* Propose and develop novel methods for the orchestration of flying networks making use of
optical comms in a meshed topology scenario.
* The proposed novel orchestration approaches are to optimize metrics such as delay, BER/FER,
network availability and overall network throughput.
* Integrate your work in an emulation environment to evaluate and trade-off the proposed
approaches.
* Definition of, and contributions to, potential demonstrators towards the customer, for
presentation of continuous and progressive work results.
* Systems Engineering based on DOORS and CAMEO.
* Analysis of operational requirements, derivation and validation of functional requirements.
* Creation of related technical documentation.
* Opportunities to propose and lead new high-risk ideas.
Education/Training:
* Object-oriented programming languages (e.g. C++, Python)
* Cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines
* Advanced user skills for Unix systemsMBSE Tools (DOORS and CAMEO) are a plus
Desired skills and qualifications
* You have an experience (3-5 years min) in the aerospace or telecommunication industry.
* You have worked with communication protocols including quality of service aspects, routing,
control and management.
* You have hands-on experience implementing network protocol stacks on Unix systems, covering
functions like routing and queuing management.
* You understand and have implemented L2 Network protocols for fast packet forwarding. Whenyou hear BATMAN the DC Comics hero is the second thing that comes to mind.
* You are comfortable implementing all of the above in an infrastructure of distributed VMs, where containerization might come handy.
* Experience of 5G/6G networks/communications would be strongly beneficial,
* Specific knowledge and experience with of free-space optical comms systems, protocols and
operations would be a plus.
