Team Lead – Telecommunications Planning / ETCS (Rail Infrastructure)

We are seeking a Team Lead in the field of telecommunications (TK/ÜT) and ETCS (TK) to manage rail infrastructure projects focused on sustainable transport solutions.
Your Role
In this leadership position, you will oversee a team responsible for planning and implementing telecom systems across a variety of rail-related projects. Your contributions will help shape the future of sustainable mobility.
Key responsibilities:
1. Provide both technical and personnel leadership to the telecom planning team
2. Manage planning efforts for new builds, upgrades, and expansions of TK/ÜT systems, including components of ETCS and digital signaling systems
3. Supervise modernization of telecom infrastructure (fiber optics, GSM-R, DBMAS, etc.)
4. Serve as liaison with clients, stakeholders, and other project contributors
5. Coordinate efforts with safety and control technology teams and other disciplines
6. Ensure planning deliverables meet quality standards and regulatory compliance
7. Guide staff through technical site assessments and evaluations
8. Lead project management efforts internally, focusing on deadlines, budgets, and team capacity
9. Review external plans for quality, schedule alignment, and cost control
10. Represent the team’s work and progress in internal and client-facing meetings

You’ll join a specialized transport division focused on advancing rail solutions through expert-led project delivery. The team is growing and brings together insights from international infrastructure projects—including landmark tunnel and transit developments—to build reliable, future-ready transport systems.
Your Profile
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical grounding with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
Ideal qualifications:
11. University degree in electrical, railway, or transport engineering
12. Proven experience with telecom systems in rail environments
13. Familiarity with GSM-R, fiber optics, ETCS, DBMAS, and related technologies
14. Previous leadership experience, or a strong interest in people and project management
15. Solid knowledge of HOAI, VOB, and DB-specific technical guidelines
16. Competence in preparing bids and awarding planning services
17. Proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, iTwo, and MS Office
18. Strong analytical and commercial acumen
19. Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented work style
20. Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
