Taylor Hopkinson is partnered with a globally recognised pioneer of renewable energy to recruit a Wind Solution Engineer to join the team in Germany as the company continue to expand their European portfolio of wind energy projects.
The role will mainly be responsible for communicating with clients to obtain and clarify their needs and requirements and connect with multi-disciplinary teams to provide customized solutions. You will support front-line sales personnel to complete the communication and promotion of project technical solutions with clients, design institutes and suppliers.
This is a full time, staff role based in Hamburg. Due to the nature of this role, you must be fluent in German and have prior knowledge working with wind energy layout and design.
Role:
* Develop overall technical solutions for international offshore/onshore wind farms, including different aspects metocean assessment, wind resource assessment, micro-site selection and HVAC/HVDC station site selection.
* Consult on design aspects for road planning (onshore), cable planning, wind turbine selection, power generation assessment, tower and foundation design and WTG suitability during different stages of the project lifecycle.
* Develop differentiated and customized overall technical solutions tailored to different regional/national laws and regulations, energy policies, and other factors.
* Calculate LCOE (levelized cost of electricity) and CAPEX/OPEX (capital expenditure/operating expenditure) to provide cost optimization solutions.
* Prepare corresponding assessment reports, site selection reports, planning reports, WTG selection reports and feasibility study reports.
* Prepare technical bidding document, technical agreements and other documents.
* Communicate with clients to obtain and clarify the needs and requirements of the clients
* Answer client technical questions and provide communication clarification until closing
* Be responsible for contract review, identifying and resolving technical risks.
* Support contract negotiation and bidding clarification.
* Track industry technology trends, put forward solution optimization suggestions, put forward optimization suggestions for cost reduction and efficiency increase, and provide more optimized solutions.
Requirements:
* Master's degree or above in wind energy, renewable energy, fluid mechanics, energy and power engineering, or related disciplines.
* Relevant experience in related field, with responsibility for 3 or more actual projects.
* Proficiency in design overall technical solutions.
* Ability in related knowledge and skills is preferred, including metocean assessment, micro-siting, onshore and offshore substation siting, onshore road planning, cable routing, WTG suitability analysis, onshore wind farm noise assessment, power generation assessment and economic assessment.
* Be familiar with wind resource assessment and analysis software such as Windographer, WT, WAsP, WindSim, WindPro, and have certain programming skills to process and analyze relevant data.
* Experience with project management knowledge and tools (e.g. MS Project).
* Ability to work with multi-cultural and international team, to have cooperative willingness, conflict resolution, etc., and to be a good team player.
* Ability to communicate and express clearly and logically (including both spoken and written communication), understand viewpoints of others quickly and comprehensively.
* Ability to be customer-oriented, result-oriented.

* Ability to provide logical, targeted and effective report (especially when presenting technical issues to people without a technical background).
* Ability to adapt to the business travel arrangement (about 30% of worktime).
