Marble Imaging is looking for an experienced mission operations architect who will develop Marble’s mission operations architecture and lead its implementation. The selected candidate will be responsible for adopting a mission- and system-level perspective to design, establish and prepare the mission operations for Marble’s first Earth Observation Very High-Resolution satellite, as well as for the planned satellite constellation. This involves leading a small mission operations team and interact closely with Marble’s space segment team and data processing team as well as with external stakeholders like satellite manufacturer and ground station provider.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Drive the success of the satellite operations, from development over launch till mission completion:
- Lead, build and manage the mission operations team
- Develop the mission operations architecture, from concept to implementation
- Prepare operations activities:
* Lead the mission operations preparation
* Plan and oversee the development and maintenance of mission operations support tools
* Develop and own the mission operations concept
* Define mission scenarios (nominal and contingency)
* Plan and oversee the development, test, validation and maintenance of scripts for routine operations of the satellite (constellation)
* Develop, test, validate and maintain scripts for routine operations of the satellite (constellation)
* Drive the automation of routine operations of the satellite (constellation)
* Lead Marble’s support of the preparation and coordination of the launch phase of the satellite
* Support space segment and ground segment development and end-to-end system tests execution
* Lead alignment activities with satellite platform provider on operational commands and data (TMTC) and operational procedures
- Operate Marble’s satellites:
* Plan and oversee the operations of the satellite (constellation)
* Manage all activities inside the Mission Control Centre related to satellite monitoring and control
* Lead Marble’s support of LEOP and commissioning of the first satellite
* Lead mission analysis activities necessary for successful routine operations of the satellite (constellation)
* Develop and own mission plans and timelines
* Develop and own the operational processes of the satellite (constellation)
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in mission operations engineering covering both segments space and ground
- 5+ years of experience in leadership and management
- Profound programming skills and large experience with satellite operations related software tools
- In-depth knowledge in and experience with IT/space standards, like ECSS, CCSDS, ISO and/or BSI information security standards
- Strong experience in development of satellite TMTC scripts and associated procedures
- Strong leadership and management skills are required:
