Fairtrade offers producers a better deal and improved terms of trade, allowing them to improve their lives and plan for their future. It seeks to bring social, economic, and environmental benefits to producers through the Fairtrade Standards.
Fairtrade International is responsible for developing, monitoring, and reviewing the Fairtrade Standards and economic benefit mechanisms to promote the empowerment of Fairtrade-certified producers. As the owner of the Fairtrade Scheme and Certification Marks, FI provides oversight to maintain the scheme's credibility, supports producers in gaining and maintaining certification, and helps capitalize on market opportunities.

Objective/Purpose
The post holder will manage responsibilities related to assurance, licensing, and compliance for the scheme owner. They will lead the development and implementation of Fairtrade International's Compliance Management System, oversee the Whistle-Blowing System, and foster a culture of openness and accountability. The role includes advising the Board and Senior Management on compliance matters.
Core Responsibilities
1. Manage oversight mechanisms, structures, processes, and procedures, including implementing improvements.
2. Support the global compliance framework and the implementation of a comprehensive compliance management system.
3. Engage with members regarding assurance and licensing oversight.
4. Audit and oversee the implementation of assurance and licensing processes by member organizations.
5. Assist member organizations in establishing compliance structures per the Fairtrade Organization Code.
6. Coordinate with accreditation and umbrella bodies (e.g., Dakks, ISEAL) on oversight and compliance issues.
7. Communicate and provide training to relevant stakeholders on scheme ownership and compliance.
