de) uses and develops modern statistical and mathematical methods for the analysis of primary and secondary data. A particular focus of the Unit is the application of dynamic mathematical modelling approaches to simulate the spread of infectious agents in human populations. The Unit coordinates the Interdisciplinary Center of Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Disease Dynamics (IMMIDD; uni-muenster.de/IMMIDD) at the University of Münster and is one of the partners in the Modeling Network for Severe Infectious Diseases (MONID; net) in Germany - ideally with you on board!
Oversee the modelling work in a third-party-funded project on the future potential of vector-borne diseases in Germany and potential countermeasures, which might include analysis and comparisons with the dynamics in tropical countries (VBD-mode, funded by BMFTR;
Collaborate closely with national and international partners from various disciplines in academia and public health agencies
Publish in high-quality peer-reviewed international journals
Master’s degree and (preferably) PhD/doctorate in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline
Experience in mathematical modelling, statistical inference, simulation studies and data analysis
R, Python, Julia, C++)
Excellent English language skills, German skills are a plus
Support for obtaining a PhD degree or postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation), including access to all necessary prerequisites
