Backend Engineer | AWS, Python, TypeScript | Berlin (Hybrid)
Backend Engineer with strong skills in AWS, Python and TypeScript is sought after by the creators of a leading qualitative data analysis software that is used all over the world. Responsibilities of the role:
* Design and maintain the AWS-based backend architecture.
* Build efficient Lambda functions using modern frameworks.
* Optimize backend performance and scalability, leveraging PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and caching strategies.
* Implement and advocate for robust testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
* Uphold and evolve our development and documentation standards using tools like Poetry, GitHub Actions, and Confluence.
* Manage and maintain interfaces between our core products, account system, and desktop applications.
* Collaborate closely with frontend developers, AI engineers, QA engineers, product managers, and UX/UI designers.
* Thrive in an agile environment and actively contribute to a supportive and collaborative team culture.
Skills & experience required to be successful:
* 3+ years of hands-on experience in backend development with Python using frameworks like Django, Flask or FastAPI
* Strong knowledge of AWS services (e.g., Lambdas, S3) and are eager to deepen your AWS expertise.
* Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript and familiar with libraries like Boto3.
* You bring solid experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and ORM tools.
* You have practical experience with dependency management tools (Poetry, UV, PIP) and CI/CD using GitHub Actions.
* You’ve worked in agile teams (Scrum or Kanban) and are comfortable with test automation.
* You understand software performance optimization, scalability, and design pattern implementation.
* You demonstrate strong initiative, excellent communication skills, and thrive in collaborative team environments.
