In this exciting chapter of continued growth and expansion for Chase, we’re looking for a passionate Controls Manager – Banking Operation (all genders) who will evaluate and perform an end-to-end analysis of the business’ operational risk to help us improve our overall performance, customer experience and business engagement.
As a Controls Manager – Banking Operation (all genders) within our Controls team at JPMorgan & Chase Co., you will work closely with other stakeholders to evaluate and manage the business’ operational risk. You will ensure that controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively. You will analyse retail banking operational processes to provide insights that help us enhance our overall performance, customer experience, and business engagement. You will play a crucial role in preparing us for key changes and enhancing our performance.
Job responsibilities
1. Manage initiatives including but not limited to Retail Banking Operations. Assessing the effectiveness of governance relative to established programs, business processes, and the direction the firm is taking.
2. Support regulatory interactions/relationships/exams.
3. Partner effectively with colleagues across the firm’s, Business, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Technology functions to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices and control programs, including risk mitigation, key risk indicators, control design, and performance evaluations.
4. Manage the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) program. Focusing on four areas: Control Design & Expertise, Risks & Controls Identification/Assessment, Issues & Control Deficiencies and Control Governance & Reporting.
5. Monitor operational practices in compliance with relevant risk standards, policies, and regulations to maintain an effective control environment. Responsible for portfolio of key metrics to inform on the health of the operational risk and control environment.
6. Manage initiatives relating to risk and controls (. awareness programs).
7. Identify, assess, advise, and drive strategic solutions to increase efficiency, create a more resilient operating environment and ensure effectiveness of key controls.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
8. Experience in, or working with, Controls/ Operational Risk Management/Operations at a large, financial organization with a strong focus on compliance with German regulatory
9. Experience across conducting Risk and Control Self-Assessment reviews and management of operational risk issues.
10. Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
11. Strong attention to detail, control mindset and business analysis skills.
12. Fluency in German and English.
13. Great communication skills, including active listening and the ability to capture and deliver key takeaways.
14. Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with senior management.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
15. Experience working in an Agile environment, and experience using JIRA and Confluence.
