University Professor (W2)
of Biochemistry
Your responsibilities:
The University Professorship will cover the entire breadth of research and teaching in Biochemistry. The future holder of the position is expected to make a significant contribution to the strategic development of research within Faculty IV and to strengthen the department's research focus at the interface between chemistry and biology. In particular, they should make a significant contribution to profile development in medicine-related research fields in order to strengthen the potential area of “Health Research” at the university.
Your profile:
We are looking for a person with a biomedical focus in research. The future post holder should have a proven track record in at least one of the following areas of biochemistry:
1. Organ-on-a-Chip
2. Single cell proteomics/metabolomics
3. High-resolution fluorescence microscopy
4. Microfluidic systems and rheology
5. Bioanalytics
In teaching, the University Professorship will be responsible for the subjects of Biochemistry and Bioanalytics in the Bachelor's degree program “Digital Biomedical and Health Sciences” and the Master's degree program “Biomedical Technology” and will teach in the undergraduate courses offered in these and related degree programs. The teaching load is 9 SWS. A willingness to actively and constructively participate in academic self-administration is required.
A strong scientific background in biochemistry, internationally outstanding work, experience in the acquisition of third-party funding as well as the implementation and management of third-party funded projects are expected. Due to the thematically broad call for applications, we also expect you to be able to convincingly demonstrate during the application process the potential of your research topic and for collaboration at the University of Siegen, especially within Faculty IV and the Research Center “Cμ - Micro- and Nanochemistry and (Bio)Technology”.
