Berlin, Germany Duration: 12 months We are seeking a business-oriented Interim Senior Legal Counsel to join the EMEA legal team on a 12-month contract. This role will provide strategic legal support across the DACH and CEE regions, partnering closely with business, public policy, marketing, communications, and product teams. The ideal candidate is commercially minded, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced international environment. You should demonstrate excellent judgment in balancing legal risk with business objectives and have the ability to work independently across a broad range of complex legal matters. Key Responsibilities Provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice on product, regulatory, compliance, and litigation matters across the DACH and CEE regions. Advise internal stakeholders including business, marketing, communications, product, and public policy teams. Support a wide range of legal matters involving: Tourism and travel Housing and property Consumer protection Unfair competition E-commerce Privacy Tax Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including: NDAs Sales agreements Service provider agreements Agency agreements End-user agreements Promotions and partnership deals Manage and oversee litigation matters ranging from consumer claims to regulatory disputes across multiple jurisdictions. Coordinate and manage external counsel on litigation, regulatory, and public policy matters. Review and advise on new product launches and strategic business initiatives. Conduct legal research on complex issues and develop practical internal guidance and policies. Requirements Fully qualified lawyer in Germany; CEE legal background is an advantage. 8–10 years of post-qualification legal experience, including significant in-house experience. Experience within the tech, digital, e-commerce, or platform industry preferred. Strong expertise in: Consumer protection law Unfair competition law Marketing law Commercial and contract law Relevant EU legislation Experience with administrative law proceedings is a plus. Excellent written and spoken English; additional European languages are beneficial. Proven ability to work cross-functionally with diverse stakeholders in an international environment.
