A requirements engineer is responsible for systematically gathering, documenting, reviewing, and managing the requirements for a system, product, or project throughout its entire life cycle.
Your Responsibilities
Requirements elicitation
* Conduct discussions with stakeholders (interviews, workshops, observation, questionnaires).
* Analyze business processes.
* Understand the goals, problems, and wishes of stakeholders.
Requirements analysis and documentation
* Structure requirements, prioritize them, and check them for completeness.
* Ensure consistency, feasibility, and clarity.
* Document requirements in suitable formats (e.g., specifications, use cases, user stories, UML models).
Requirements validation and coordination
* Coordinate requirements with stakeholders and the project team.
* Clarify contradictions and misunderstandings.
* Ensure that the requirements support the business objectives.
Requirements management
* Control changes to requirements (change management).
* Establish traceability (from the requirement to implementation and testing).
* Maintain requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Communication and mediation
* Act as an interface between the business department and development.
* Moderate different stakeholder perspectives.
* Present technical issues in a way that is understandable to business departments and vice versa.
Requirements
* Analytical thinking and structured approach.
* Knowledge of testing methodology (e.g., ISTQB standard).
* Experience with testing tools (manual and automated).
* Basic understanding of software development (e.g., programming, CI/CD).
* Communication and teamwork skills.
