About the Company

Ming Yang is an innovative renewable energy company focused on the development, construction, and operation of sustainable energy projects such as On- and Offshore wind, solar, and energy storage solutions. We are committed to accelerating the energy transition through technically robust and commercially viable projects across international markets.

About the Role

The Certification and Testing Manager is a senior role within the European Business & Engineering Center responsible for driving type and project certification of MySE onshore and offshore wind turbines for the European and international markets, and for managing all prototype and customer-facing measurement campaigns. The role owns the certification strategy, plan and execution for European products, acts as the principal interface to certification bodies and accredited test institutes, and coordinates intensively with MySE R&D headquarters in Zhongshan (China), where the bulk of the design and supporting documentation is produced. The Certification and Testing Manager ensures that MySE products meet all applicable IEC, IECRE and regional regulatory requirements, and that measurement evidence is planned, executed and delivered to a world-class standard. The role is pivotal to successful European market entry and to the long-term credibility of the MySE product portfolio in Europe.

Responsibilities

Certification Strategy and Planning

* Define and own the European certification strategy for the MySE onshore and offshore turbine platforms, including type certification, project certification and component certification.
* Develop and maintain the integrated certification plan, covering scope, modules, milestones, deliverables, budget and risk, aligned with the IECRE OD-501 framework.
* Select and manage certification bodies (DNV, TÜV, UL, BV, etc.) and negotiate certification agreements, scopes and fees.
* Track certification progress against plan, report status to management, and drive corrective actions where required.
* Anticipate regulatory and standards evolution (IEC 61400 series, IECRE OD-501, grid codes, HSE, marine and aviation requirements) and reflect changes in strategy and plans.

Type and Project Certification Execution

* Drive execution of type certification campaigns for European onshore and offshore platforms, covering design evaluation, type testing, type characteristic measurements, manufacturing evaluation and final evaluation.
* Support project-specific certification activities for European and international customer projects (site suitability, project certification, national approvals).
* Ensure certification readiness of design documentation, analyses and evidence delivered by engineering, in cooperation with the R&D teams in Hamburg and Zhongshan.
* Manage nonconformities, findings and certification risks to closure.

Prototype and Measurement Campaigns

* Plan, procure and manage prototype and customer measurement campaigns, including acoustic (noise) measurements per IEC 61400-11, power performance per IEC 61400-12, mechanical loads per IEC 61400-13, and electrical characteristics / power quality per IEC 61400-21.
* Define instrumentation requirements and measurement setups in cooperation with the testing institutes and internal engineering disciplines.
* Select and manage accredited test laboratories and measurement service providers.
* Oversee on-site execution of measurement campaigns on prototypes and serial turbines, coordinating site access, safety, logistics and customer interfaces.
* Ensure timely delivery of measurement reports suitable for certification bodies and for customer and grid operator acceptance.

Grid and Electrical Compliance Testing

* Drive grid compliance testing and demonstration against European grid codes, including ENTSO-E RfG, GB Grid Code, and relevant national codes (TenneT, 50Hertz, Amprion, TransnetBW, National Grid ESO, Svenska Kraftnät and others).
* Coordinate FRT/LVRT/HVRT, frequency response, reactive capability, and emerging grid-forming measurement and certification activities.
* Interface with grid operators and with certification bodies for the acceptance of grid compliance evidence.

Component and Subsystem Testing

* Coordinate blade full-scale testing per IEC 61400-23, including scheduling of blade test facilities, which is typically the critical path in type certification.
* Oversee tower, drivetrain, nacelle, pitch system, converter and control system testing as required by the certification scope.
* Manage qualification and validation testing for safety-related functions.

Coordination with R&D Headquarters (Zhongshan)

* Act as the primary certification and testing counterpart to the engineering, testing and quality teams at MySE headquarters in Zhongshan.
* Translate European certification and regulatory requirements into structured input for the HQ engineering teams, using the established Technical Information Request process.
* Align documentation, numbering, review and release processes between Hamburg and Zhongshan to ensure certification-ready deliverables.
* Travel to Zhongshan regularly for working sessions, design reviews, and joint planning with certification bodies where required.

Customer and External Stakeholder Interface

* Act as the senior technical interface to customers on all certification and measurement topics, from early opportunity phase through post-commissioning measurements.
* Represent MySE towards certification bodies, accredited test laboratories, grid operators, and national regulatory authorities in Europe and selected international markets.
* Support sales and project engineering with certification inputs for bids, contracts and technical clarifications.

Documentation, Processes and Team Building

* Establish and maintain certification-aligned documentation structures, processes and templates (aligned to IECRE OD-501 Annex A) for use across European and HQ teams.
* Build up the European certification and testing competence over time, including internal expertise, external partner network, and test tooling.
* Mentor more junior engineers and contribute to the wider R&D Europe organisation as a senior role model.
* Ensure proper knowledge management, archiving and traceability of certification and measurement evidence.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Energy or related). Higher academic qualification is an advantage.
* Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the wind industry, with a substantial portion dedicated to certification, testing or technical compliance.
* Proven track record of leading or significantly contributing to at least one full type certification campaign for a multi-MW wind turbine, ideally under IECRE OD-501 with a recognised certification body (DNV, TÜV, UL, BV or equivalent).
* Experience across both onshore and offshore wind turbine certification is highly desirable.
* Hands-on experience managing measurement campaigns (acoustic, power performance, loads, power quality, grid compliance) on prototypes and serial turbines.
* In-depth knowledge of the IEC 61400 standards series, IECRE OD-501, DNV standards (ST-0126, ST-0437, SE-0190 and related) and European grid codes.
* Experience working within a global OEM or as a senior consultant/certification body engineer is highly sought after.
* Experience working with Chinese OEMs or in a Europe–China engineering context is a strong advantage.

Skills

* Strong strategic thinking combined with disciplined execution; able to structure complex, long-running certification programmes and drive them to closure.
* Outstanding stakeholder management: able to hold the line with certification bodies, manage customer expectations, and navigate internal priorities across two continents.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to represent MySE confidently in audits, witness tests and regulator interactions.
* Strong cross-cultural competence; able to work effectively with Chinese engineering teams while meeting European rigor expectations.
* Highly structured, well organised and disciplined in documentation, with a certification-native way of thinking.
* Ability to work independently, drive topics without direct line authority, and mobilise resources across functions.
