MT Improvement Engineer (all gender)
... within our Methocel Manufacturing Technology Team. The MT Improvement Engineer will be responsible for identifying and executing medium to long term, non-Capex projects for productivity (cost & capacity), yield, quality, and sustainability improvements for both the Stade and Bomlitz, Germany Methocel facilities. This role will help execute early Front-End Loading (FEL) activities on Capex projects and support business case and scope development along with detail design, commissioning and start up activities. This role will also help drive key KPI initiatives for the site, including OEE, cost savings, etc.
This full-time position is primary located in Stade, Germany (greater Hamburg area).
What You’ll Do:
1. Develop & drive improvement initiatives and metrics at the site and across the network as appropriate
2. Act as a key contact point for process technology problems at the site
3. Execute process safety Dust & Process Hazard Analyses and lead implementation of required follow up
4. Identify, develop/execute medium to longer term, non-CapEx projects for productivity (cost & capacity), yield, quality, and sustainability improvement
5. Execute early Front End Loading (FEL) activity on appropriate CapEx projects (Grow & Improve, quality improvement, etc.) to include business case & scope development. Support detailed design, lead commissioning & start-up activities, RTO as appropriate
6. Develop & own site mass balances & models to understand yield improvement and debottlenecking opportunities
7. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to address longer term production issues
8. Work with MCC Technology Guardian to support process technology development
9. Work with the process R&D group to complete raw material & technology trials, new product scale up and execute DOE’s
10. Regular liaison with IE’s and production engineers at sister sites to leverage knowledge & experience on issue resolution and improvement activity.
11. Mining & modelling process data to identify trends & changes, causes of variation, opportunities for improvement
What You’ll Need:
12. Bachelors/Master of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree
13. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing and engineering, preferably in Operations or Technology role
14. Fluent in English and German (mind. B2 level)
15. Statistical Modelling & Data Visualization Ability
16. Six sigma Green or Black Belt
17. Root cause corrective action mindset and desire to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
18. Strong problem-solving skills with ability to find non-CapEx, low cost solutions to generate plant improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
19. Proven skills in developing project plans, lead project teams, deal with ambiguity and manage competing priorities.
20. Proven skills to work across multiple functions
21. Excellent communication and presentation skills and comfort around senior leadership
22. Willingness to travel for this role between Stade and Bomlitz, Germany
