Job Description:
The Microchip Wireless Solutions Group (WSG) is seeking a Technical Staff Engineer Architect specializing in hardware for wireless technologies. You will architect and design next-generation ultra low power wireless hardware systems with a focus on analog RF design and signal processing. You will provide technical leadership, and guide development of high-performance, reliable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead architecture and design of advanced wireless hardware systems, focusing on state-of-the-art ultra-low power RF solutions.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional, global teams to translate requirements into robust hardware solutions.
3. Mentor hardware engineers and foster technical excellence.
4. Conduct design reviews and provide expert feedback on schematics and layouts.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware issues, including RF performance and system integration.
6. Document architectural decisions and hardware specifications.
Requirements/Qualifications:
7. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field.
8. 12+ years in hardware engineering, with 5+ years in architectural or technical leadership roles focused on wireless technologies.
9. Proven experience with ultra low power wireless hardware (BLE, WiFi, IEEE 802.15.4, UWB, NFC).
10. Strong proficiency in analog design using Cadence, RF design, PCB layout, hardware validation, and signal processing.
11. Deep understanding of wireless protocols, standards, and compliance.
12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with international teams.
13. Preferred Skills:
14. Experience with antenna design, EMC/EMI mitigation, and wireless certification.
15. Familiarity with optimal analog vs. digital hardware partitioning as well as hardware-software co-design
16. Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) and its application in wireless systems.
17. Good communication skills in writing and speaking English.
