As Satcom Ground System Engineer, you will be in charge of ground segment topics in our missions on Satellite Communication System.
The scope includes the different main constitutive elements of a Satcom Ground Segment:
Primary role and responsibilities
* Satellite control centre (SCC including FDS, Ground & Satellite Operational Procedures, MCC, TT&C),
* Network Operation Centre (including NMS, M&Cs, CSM, OSS/BSS, SLA analytics, DB management),
* Gateways,
* Teleport
* User terminals
Depending on the mission, you may be involved at different stage of a Space System Project:
* Concept Stage: performing analysis of innovative architecture or different trade-offs on satcom ground systems
* Feasibility Stage: performing collection of user's needs, generation and comparison of high-level preliminary designs, generation of high-level system requirements, system cost assessment and cost trade-offs.
* Procurement stage: performing generation/review of the ground system specifications (requirements for design, test, acceptance and operations) as part of the technical exhibit of an RFP, analysis and comparison of the different proposals received from the industry, final negotiation of the contract with the selected bidder(s).
* Construction stage: monitoring the execution of an industrial contract to design, build, integrate, test and commission a ground system (support program reviews including reviews and comments of data package, prepare and attend Factory and on-site Acceptance Testing, prepare and attend end to end Ground Segment testing).
* Operations stage: supporting customers in the operations of its systems
Responsibilities include:
* Lead or support ground segment engineering activities for a telecom project,
* Understand and capture Customer needs,
* Assess and identify the technologies necessary for the implementation of the system architecture, including their associated risks.
* Analyze ground system operations and contributes to the generation/review of the Concept Of Operations of the system,
* Support and provide expertise to the system level security risk analyses (including inputs and analyses on interfaces);
* Analyze, review or generate requirements (e.g. Contractual Technical Annexes). and definition baselines of ground systems (both control and mission)
* Analyze/review or perform the development, verification and validation of ground/mission procedures
* Provide support to mission simulation activities
* Interface with customers for ground systems topics,
* Prepare and participate to project reviews and workshops,
* Participate to technical proposals and studies.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Master's degree in engineering, preferably in aerospace, telecommunications, or electrical engineering
* At least ten (10) years of practical industry experience in communications systems,
* Good knowledge of systems using analogue and digital satellite payloads, HTS system, constellation, end-to-end satcom infrastructure as well as satcom service provider platforms; IT/Infrastructure& network; Requirement management; System engineering; System Operations
* Experience in designing, integrating, testing operating and maintaining ground segments, and associated equipment,
* Ability to appreciate both the commercial and operational requirements.
* You are proficient in writing reports and prepare corresponding PowerPoint presentations, adjusted to the message to be transmitted and to the level of the audience.
* Fluent in English,
* Applied and rigorous both on the technical and organisational aspects of your work.
* Autonomy, adaptability,
* Team spirit, Communication skills,
* In addition to strong technical skills, you have good presentation skills, as well as interpersonal skills (softskills) as the position will require daily collaboration with other Satconsult engineers and customers. You are a good communicator both within your team and when presenting to clients or at conferences.
* Ability to travel, as our clients' sites or operations could be anywhere in the world (Europe, Middle East, Asia, the Americas, etc.)
