The Accounting Manager Europe is responsible for leading and coordinating
accounting activities across European entities with a strong focus on US GAAP
reporting. The role ensures accurate and timely financial closings, robust SG&A cost
control, effective internal controls and high-quality reporting to local management and
US headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Closing & Compliance (US GAAP Focus)
Lead and coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings for European entities in accordance with US GAAP (and local GAAP where required)
Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal reporting requirements
Act as the primary interface to US headquarters on accounting and reporting matters
SG&A Cost Management
Monitor, analyze and comment on SG&A expenses versus budget, forecast and prior year
Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting for SG&A cost centers in close cooperation with business owners
Identify cost trends, deviations and efficiency improvement opportunities and prepare management recommendations Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare concise and meaningful financial reports, variance analyses and management presentations
Translate complex financial data into actionable insights to support decision-making
Process Improvement & Leadership
Drive continuous improvement and standardization of accounting processes across Europe
Provide functional and/or disciplinary leadership, coaching and development to accounting teams across multiple locations
Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Marketing, IT, Operations)
Qualifications & Skills
University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a comparable qualification
Several years of relevant professional experience in a senior accounting role, preferably in an international and US GAAP-driven environment
Strong knowledge of US GAAP; exposure to local GAAPs and consolidation processes is a plus
Solid analytical skills with experience in SG&A cost analysis and budgeting
Confident user of ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and very strong MS Excel
skills
Fluent German and English (spoken and written); additional European languages are an advantage
Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
Structured, detail-oriented working style and ability to perform under time pressure
