We are looking for a
Legal Counsel (m/f/d) with special interest in global trade compliance
to support our team in Tessenderlo-Ham. In this critical role, you will ensure compliance with complex and evolving trade laws that directly impact advanced technology and sensitive components.
You will work in close partnership with the General Counsel, liaise with external legal experts, and act as a key point of contact for the entire X-FAB Group worldwide. The role requires a blend of legal insight, regulatory vigilance, and practical coordination with engineering, logistics, and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities
Assess and advise on liabilities, legal restrictions and risks of proposed transactions and develop practical solutions to meet commercial needs
Stay current with and interpret changes in export control laws, trade sanctions, and tariffs, particularly those targeting advanced technologies and materials.
Collaborate directly with the General Counsel and external counsel on licensing requirements, regulatory interpretations, and risk assessments.
Ensure compliance with EU Dual-Use Regulation, US EAR (Export Administration Regulations), ITAR, and other global trade controls affecting semiconductor technologies.
Support the creation and improvement of internal policies, procedures, and controls to ensure robust and auditable compliance systems.
Deliver training and awareness sessions to internal stakeholders (R&D, operations, logistics, sales) on export compliance obligations.
Provide ad hoc legal advice on strategic projects.

Qualifications & Skills
Master of Law combined with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a multinational organisation as in-house counsel or trade compliance expert or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent command of English (C2 level) is required; knowledge of German or French is a strong advantage.
Sound understanding of semiconductor supply chains, sensitive technologies, and dual-use items is preferred.
Ability to work independently, structure your own learning and development, and ask the right questions when needed.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to translate complex regulations into actionable guidance for technical and non-technical audiences.
