Description
We are on a journey to build the next-generation foundry for quantum processor manufacturing and are looking for a Quantum Materials Engineer (Silicon Germanium Epitaxy) to join our Front End Epitaxy team.
Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen, fully owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), is dedicated to developing next‐generation quantum computing processor technologies.
Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units (QPUs) employing novel methods to meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision needed to bring Quantum Computing to scale.

About us

Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. The NQCP Programme is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing materials and quantum processor technologies through solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.
In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors.

Join our team

As our new Quantum Materials Engineer in the Front End Epitaxy team, you will develop and optimize waferscale crystal growth processes using advanced deposition and characterization tools for Silicon–Germanium Molecular Beam Epitaxy.
You will contribute across multiple projects and collaborate closely with both QF and NQCP stakeholders, sharing regular updates on epitaxy workflows and materials characterization.

Your primary responsibilities and tasks may include

* Establishing and performing in-line inspection for fast loop materials development
* Liaise with NQCP Characterization team for more advanced analysis techniques
* Serve as an expert on advanced crystal growth fabrication processes for quantum chip manufacturing and collaborate with the tools development team to ensure alignment between crystal growth process requirements and tool specifications
* Creating and maintaining documentation of process flows, experimental results, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
* Supporting the process development team in adopting data-driven methodologies for continuous improvement

Professional and Personal Qualifications
You actively seek opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly. You adapt quickly, learn and apply new techniques with ease, and thrive in a fastpaced, evolving environment. As a communicative team player with a proactive, cando attitude, you bring strong analytical skills and a solid ability to solve complex problems.

Your qualifications and experience may include

* Education: PhD in material science, physics, chemical engineering or related
* 3+ years experience with epitaxial growth
* Advanced knowledge of SiGe epitaxy processes
* Experience in materials synthesis, nanodevice fabrication, or system integration
* Broad knowledge of materials characterization and nanofabrication techniques
* Able to implement and improve standards for systems engineering and data logging/analysis concepts

We offer

You will join the Front End Epitaxy team, a group of eight skilled colleagues working closely together on advancing our epitaxial growth capabilities. The team combines expertise in UHV systems, epitaxy, materials and device characterisation, and collaborates daily to solve complex challenges, share knowledge, and drive continuous improvement across our epitaxy processes.
Joining our team offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with leading experts in the field of quantum computing. We strive to be a world leading foundry and offer competitive salaries along with the many benefits of living in Copenhagen – one of the most liveable cities in the world.
Benefits also include generous vacation time, health insurance, a pension scheme, and a chance to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team.
