Managing Director (MD) Germany | FMCG | Interesting Package
Our Client for this search is the European leader in the category, with a presence in more than 100 countries worldwide and a net turnover in the region of €1 billion continuously growing. With a strong heritage in quality, innovation, and sustainability the German subsidiary - turnover of approximately €90 million - represents the Group’s second largest market after Italy, with an increasing market share.
We are seeking a highly energetic and entrepreneurial Managing Director (MD) to lead our Client commercial subsidiary in Germany. The role requires a combination of strategic leadership, commercial expertise and hands-on management to drive sales growth, develop the distribution network, and lead a high-performing local team. This is a strategic role with full P&L responsibility and direct oversight of all key functions (Sales, Marketing, Finance) in alignment with central Functions, Group strategy and values.
Position Summary:
As Managing Director you will hold full executive responsibility for the German subsidiary and act as the legal representative of the Company (Geschäftsführer). You will be responsible for the full operational and strategic management of the business in Germany, will ensure the profitable growth of the Germany business, build a high-performing team, strengthen market positioning, and align the subsidiary’s development with the Group's global vision and objectives.
As MD you will have a key role in a historic company deeply rooted in Made in Italy excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Business Development
* Develop and implement the local business strategy in alignment with Group objectives.
* Identify growth opportunities and expand market share in Germany.
Leadership & Organizational Development
* Lead, motivate, and develop the local management team.
* Ensure alignment between the German subsidiary and Group headquarters.
Corporate Governance & Legal Representation:
* Act as the legal representative (Geschäftsführer) of the Company in Germany.
* Ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Articles of Association, and internal Group policies.
Day-to-Day Management & Operations
* Assume full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Company.
* Coordinate and supervise all operational activities with due care and diligence.
* Ensure effective cross-functional alignment across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and other functions.
What We Are Looking for
* Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role or equivalent in a distribution-focused business in FMCG within the German market
* Experience managing cross-functional teams and full P&L responsibility.
* Experience working in or with international organizations is a strong plus.
* Excellent financial acumen and operational insight.
* Deep understanding of the Germany food market dynamics (retail, foodservice, distribution).
* Knowledge of German corporate governance and regulatory environment
* Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach and results-driven attitude.
* Strong leadership and people management skills; able to inspire and build effective teams.
Education
* Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, or related field.
* MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
* Fluent in German and in English (mandatory).
