Our client is a leading international data centre contractor delivering large-scale hyperscale, colocation, and mission-critical infrastructure projects across Europe. Due to continued growth within the German market, they are seeking an experienced Country Director to lead operations, project delivery, client engagement, and strategic growth across Germany.
This is a senior executive appointment offering the opportunity to shape and scale a high-performing business within one of Europe's fastest-growing data centre markets.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Country Director will have full responsibility for the performance, growth, and operational leadership of the German business. The role will oversee the successful delivery of multiple hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects while driving strategic expansion, profitability, and operational excellence across the region.
The successful candidate will provide leadership across both CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health) disciplines, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The role requires regular travel throughout Germany and across Europe to support clients, project teams, and business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the German business unit and provide strategic direction aligned with European growth objectives.
* Act as the senior representative for the business within Germany, reporting directly to the COO.
* Oversee the successful delivery of multiple data centre construction projects across Germany.
* Manage and develop high-performing operational, commercial, and project delivery teams.
* Build and maintain executive-level relationships with hyperscale, colocation, and mission-critical clients.
* Drive business development activities and support the acquisition of new projects.
* Ensure operational excellence across CSA and MEP delivery functions.
* Own P&L performance, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
* Promote a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Support recruitment, succession planning, and leadership development within the German organisation.
* Represent the business at industry events, client meetings, and strategic forums.
Requirements
Essential
* Proven leadership experience within a senior operational (e.g. Project Director), business unit, managing director, or country director-level position in data centre construction.
* Extensive experience delivering large-scale data centre projects across both CSA and MEP scopes .
* Strong understanding of hyperscale, colocation, and mission-critical environments.
* Demonstrable experience managing multiple concurrent projects and large operational teams.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience managing P&L responsibilities.
* Track record of building and maintaining relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
* Experience leading multidisciplinary teams within complex construction environments.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Germany and across Europe.
Desirable
* Previous experience leading a country, regional, or business unit operation.
* Experience working with leading hyperscale clients.
* German and English language proficiency.
* Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Services, or a related discipline.
