PhD Position (gn*) Cell Biology / Vascular BiologyFixed-term of 3 years | Position is available immediately | Part-time with 65% (25 hours/week) | Salary according to TV-L E13 | Institute of Cell Biology - Matis lab | Job ID: 11204We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility. To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific support - ideally with you on board!PROJECT TITLE:Mechanobiological Regulation of Endothelial Cell DynamicsPROJECT DESCRIPTION:Our lab investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern endothelial cell behavior in response to mechanical stimuli. In this PhD project, we aim to understand how endothelial cells (specifically HUVECs) respond to mechanical forces by modulating their cytoskeleton, adhesion dynamics, and gene expression. Using a combination of microfluidic systems, quantitative live-cell imaging, molecular biology, and immunocytochemistry, we will dissect how cytoskeletal and signaling networks integrate environmental inputs to coordinate vascular function, remodeling, and barrier integrity.More information about our lab can be found here .What we expectWe are looking for a motivated PhD candidate with a background in cell biology, or a related life sciences field. Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous:Cell culture work (e.g., plating, transfection, passaging)Quantitative image analysis and microscopyMicrofluidic device handlingMolecular biology techniques (e.g., cloning, qPCR, Western blot)ImmunocytochemistryGood English communication skills and interest in interdisciplinary research are essentialFor further information, please contact: Dr. Maja Matis, TApply now via our career portal until 08.10.2025:Formal applications should includeA letter of motivation (including research interests)A CVA list of publications (if applicable)Contact details for two academic refereesBENEFITSExciting ProjectsProfessional Development and TrainingInterdisciplinary CollaborationPart of Research InnovationAdditional BenefitsExciting ProjectsProfessional Development and TrainingInterdisciplinary CollaborationPart of Research InnovationAdditional Benefits(*gn=gender neutral)The University Hospital of Münster is one of the leading hospitals in Germany.
