About the Role
The Category Procurement Manager - Road Haulage will lead the strategic and operational procurement of road transportation services across Europe. This includes FTL, LTL/groupage, FCL, LCL, and parcel and express transport. They will play a key role in strengthening and expanding the category, enhancing procurement practices, and building consistent ways of working across the region.

NB* a large portion of suppliers and commercial activity within this category is based in Germany, fluency in both English and German is strongly preferred to support effective collaboration and relationship-building with internal and external partners.
How You Will Contribute
Category Strategy & Development
* Develop, implement, and continuously refine the European road haulage category strategy across FTL, LTL, FCL, LCL, and parcel/express services.
* Build and enhance consistent category processes, tools, and governance across procurement and operations.
* Lead the development of sourcing and contracting frameworks that strengthen service reliability and commercial value.
* Establish and grow strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective decision-making.
* Drive the delivery of key initiatives that enhance category maturity and support business growth.
Procurement & Commercial Excellence
* Lead competitive tender activities, including RFQs/RFPs, commercial evaluations, negotiations, and contracting.
* Partner with suppliers to ensure high service performance, continuous improvement, and mutually beneficial commercial outcomes.
* Identify and execute cost optimisation and value-creation opportunities.
* Conduct total cost of ownership analysis, price benchmarking, market studies, and risk assessments.
* Support sourcing, contracting, and contract compliance activities.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
* Work closely with Road Operations, Finance, Legal, Shared Services, and cross-functional teams to ensure category initiatives support business priorities.
* Provide clarity, insight, and structure to stakeholders through data, analysis, and transparent communication.
* Support decision-making related to carrier selection, validation of commercial proposals, and category performance improvements.
* Contribute to broader organisational transformation efforts within the logistics and procurement landscape.
What You Will Bring
Skills & Experience
* Strong understanding of the road freight and transport sector, including operational processes, cost drivers, strategic models, and FTL/LTL mechanics.
* Experience in procurement or purchasing within road haulage, including tendering, negotiation, and contract management.
* Knowledge of the road transport market, industry terminology, and commonly used systems or tools.
* Experience working with groupage models, synergy identification, and savings delivery.
* Understanding of spot-market dynamics and short-term capacity challenges.
* Experience supporting organisational scaling, optimisation, or transformation activities.
