Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Adelberg facility is seeking an experienced Head of Product Development Fine Pitch Connector Portfolio (m/f/d) to lead our fine-pitch connector portfolio engineering within the Industrial BU's Board Connector and SubSystems Subvertical. This leadership role will drive innovation, oversee new product development, manage extension NPI activities, and coordinate sustaining engineering activities while leading technology development initiatives through internal corporate partnerships and external collaborations with institutes and universities.
This position is based in Adelberg, Germany, and requires leadership of both local and potentially distributed engineering teams. The role involves strategic planning, hands-on technical oversight, and extensive cross-functional collaboration. Regular interaction with senior leadership, customers, and external partners is expected.
Job Requirements
* Drive innovative connector development for differentiated solutions targeting high-growth applications including Automation Controls, Battery Electric Storage Systems (BESS), and Robotics applications
* Lead a mid-sized, three sub-team engineering organization with focus on structured work processes and independent execution
* Lead advanced wiring solutions development focused on ease of assembly and enhanced functionality for industrial applications
* Oversee complete product lifecycle management from concept through end-of-life for fine-pitch connector portfolio
* Establish technology roadmaps aligned with market trends and customer requirements for next-generation connectivity solutions
* Collaborate with TE Corporate Technology teams to leverage advanced materials, manufacturing processes, and design methodologies
* Manage strategic partnerships with external institutes and universities for breakthrough technology development
* Drive joint research initiatives focused on miniaturization, signal integrity, and environmental performance improvements
* Coordinate IP development and protection strategies for innovative connector technologies
* Manage product extension development and oversee comprehensive NPI processes from initial concept through production release and market introduction
* Drive design optimization for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness while maintaining performance specifications
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives through VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) cost optimization programs and lean engineering processes
What your background should look like
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physical Sciences
* Several years of progressive experience in product development and engineering leadership roles, preferably in the connector industry with an understanding of fine‑pitch connector technologies
* Demonstrated track record in managing complex product development programs and engineering teams
* Deep understanding of connector design principles, manufacturing processes, and application requirements
* Experience with CAD systems and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platforms strongly preferred
* Solid understanding of automation, robotics, and energy storage connectivity, including signal integrity, mechanical design and environmental testing standards
* Independent, structured leadership with strong analytical and decision‑making capabilities in complex technical and regulated industrial environments
* Customer‑ and process‑driven execution, combining VoC‑based product development, stage‑gate and continuous improvement methodologies, and clear executive‑level communication
