Job Summary:
onsemi is a seeking an experienced engineer to join the Multi-Market Power Division as a subject matter expert for magnetic components. This job will be based in Munich, Germany. As a magnetics subject matter expert you will be part of a fast-paced team that evaluates the latest trends in datacenter power supply applications, designs reference and benchmarking systems, and supports onsemi’s customers with their power supply design needs. This job involves a healthy mixture of theoretical analysis, simulation, and bench work. Further, it includes constant interaction with leading datacenter power supply manufacturers and hyperscalers and onsemi employees based out of America, Europe and Asia. This highly visible role will also involve travel (< 10%) to support customers across the globe and will have an opportunity to influence the roadmap.
Key Goals/Objectives/Activities:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
1. Design and test eval boards and author application notes and datasheets.
2. Evaluate and validate cutting-edge power supply systems and their magnetic design.
3. Work in a well-equipped cutting-edge high-power lab.
4. Work closely with technical marketing to create marketing collateral & attend tradeshows.
5. Collaborate with customers across the world on cutting-edge power semiconductor problems and build long-lasting relationships.
Key Goals/Objectives/Activities:
6. Design magnetic components for datacenter applications (up to 30 kW, 800 V).
7. Support design and testing of evaluation boards, and author application notes.
8. Work in a well-equipped cutting-edge high-power lab.
9. Work closely with technical marketing to create marketing collateral and attend tradeshows.
10. Collaborate with customers across the world on cutting-edge power semiconductor problems and build long-lasting relationships.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the design and testing of planar and PCB magnetics. Excellent communication skills and knowledge of magnetic components design procedure. This includes FEM simulation, designing for manufacturability, and testing/verification.
Other requirements include:
11. Bachelor of Science with 7-8 years of work experience or Master of Science with 5-6 years of work experience or a with +3 years of experience in magnetics design.
12. Strong understanding of planar transformers with PCB windings is a must.
13. Experience with potted, high-power magnetic components is a plus.
14. Strong knowledge of simulators (ANSYS or equivalent).
15. Fluent English language knowledge. German language knowledge is an advantage.
