Your mission We are looking for a well-rounded HR professional who is passionate about creating a meaningful employee experience and driving organizational growth. In this role, you will lead HR initiatives across the entire employee lifecycle, working across both our for-profit and nonprofit entities. This role requires strong expertise in human resources, German labor law, and experience in dynamic, scaling environments. Key Responsibilities Act as a strategic and operational sparring partner for managers across both for-profit (The DO GmbH) and non-profit (The DO Fellowships gGmbH) entities. Lead and evolve core HR processes across the full employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, talent development, performance management, compensation & benefits, and learning & development. Proactive collaboration on company-wide HR initiatives, e.g. High Performing Teams, Talent & Performance Management, Leadership Development Provide expert advice on German labor law and social security topics and ensure compliance across all HR practices. Conduct HR analytics and derive insights to inform strategy and continuous improvement. Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution and risk management. Proactively foster a people-first culture that reflects our values and commitment to inclusion and collaboration. Collaborate cross-functionally with all teams and business units to ensure HR strategies are aligned with business needs. Supporting Responsibilities Act as a strategic advisor to Executive Directors and senior leadership on workforce planning, succession management, and organizational development. Ensure HR compliance and manage employee-related risk through robust internal processes and sound legal understanding. Develop and manage systems for feedback and performance improvement, recognizing strengths and addressing challenges constructively. Serve as a trusted coach to managers, offering hands-on support in leadership and team development. Utilize modern HR tools (e.g., Personio) to optimize HR workflows and improve employee experience. Support and advice on organizational design, including role architecture, reporting structures, and change management. In this role, you will report to the People Director and work closely with the Directors across The DO Group, the entire HR team and other key stakeholders. Your profile To thrive and grow in this role, you will likely be: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Psychology, HR Management, or a related field. 10 years of experience in a generalist HR role, ideally as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A people person with a high level of empathy and emotional intelligence, great listening skills, able to gain trust and forge great relationships, driven by others' wellbeing. Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams. Excellent internal consulting and implementation skills. In-depth knowledge of German labor law, social security law and employment practices. Strategic mindset paired with a hands-on, operational approach. Strong familiarity with modern HR systems and tools (e.g. Personio). Ability to lead through change and support others in navigating transitions. Work experience in an international environment. Native German and fluent English. … And will likely have: Experience in executive HR partnership and advising senior leadership on complex people strategies.
