Sales Director – Utility-Scale Energy Storage (BESS)

Position Overview
We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Sales Director to lead business development efforts for our utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in renewable energy sales, a deep understanding of energy storage markets, and the ability to engage customers at a strategic level. This role plays a critical part in identifying new opportunities, managing key client relationships, and driving growth in the energy storage sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth in utility-scale BESS markets.
* Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, and lead generation.
* Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, including utilities, developers, and independent power producers.
* Collaborate with internal teams across engineering, product, and project development to deliver competitive, customized energy storage solutions.
* Stay up to date on market trends, customer needs, regulatory environments, and competitive dynamics.
* Deliver compelling sales presentations, proposals, and commercial offers tailored to client needs.
* Track and report sales performance, pipeline development, and forecast updates to senior leadership.
* Monitor and incorporate renewable energy policies, incentives, and grid requirements into sales strategies.
* Support project finance and commercial structuring, including participation in financial close processes when needed.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
* Proven success in sales or business development within the renewable energy sector, ideally in utility-scale energy storage or BESS.
* Strong understanding of energy storage technologies, grid applications, and renewable energy value chains.
* Experience working on early-stage sales pipeline development (0-to-1 sales process).
* Familiarity with project finance, energy markets (e.g., ISO/RTO environments), and contracting structures (e.g., EPC, PPA, tolling agreements).
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Analytical and strategic mindset, with the ability to align customer needs with business objectives.
* Willingness to travel as needed for client engagement and industry events.
