Partnering for Readiness (PfR) supports partner countries in strategically planning climate finance and accessing the Green Climate Fund (GCF), enhancing their capacity to implement climate projects independently and achieve their climate targets.
PfR serves as a collaborative knowledge hub for climate finance readiness by:
* Shaping international discourse and developing innovative knowledge concepts;
* Connecting countries and organizations to promote global knowledge transfer;
* Serving as a sparring partner to the GCF, providing input, feedback, and co-creating learning platforms and knowledge products.
Under the guidance of a supervisor, you will contribute to climate finance tasks focusing on the GCF and its readiness programme. You will support colleagues working with partner countries and in knowledge exchange on topics such as the GCF direct access modality, climate finance for SIDS, transparency, integrity in financial management, green financial systems, and climate finance training. This role offers insight into GIZ’s administrative and organizational processes. During your internship, you will gain practical experience by participating in meetings, planning, and preparing for discussions.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
* Supporting the development, implementation, and reporting of GCF Readiness activities;
* Researching and producing information and materials on GCF Board meetings, Readiness processes, and implementation options;
* Managing information and communication;
* Assisting in the preparation and follow-up of workshops and meetings;
* Preparing presentations and minutes;
* Representing GCF Readiness activities of GIZ in internal and external communication channels.
Qualifications include:
* Current enrollment in a relevant field of study;
* Expertise in climate change, international climate finance, policy, adaptation, mitigation, or green financial systems;
* Understanding of development cooperation;
* Practical experience through internships or part-time jobs, including international experience;
* Analytical thinking, structured work approach, and strong communication skills;
* Ability to work independently under time constraints;
* Business fluency in English; knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage;
* Proficiency in MS Office programs (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Please note that applicants must be currently enrolled or have graduated no more than six months prior to the internship start date.
We offer a monthly gross stipend of €2,134.52.
