Senior Process Engineer Fiber Optic Manufacturing (m/w/d)
Your responsibilities:
• Technical responsibility for the development, stabilization, and optimization of processes for manufacturing optical glass fibers
• In-depth optimization of the fiber drawing and coating process
(drawing speed, temperature profiles, tension, diameter stability, attenuation, coating)
• Introduction of new glass fiber designs (single-mode, specialty, and sensor fibers)
• Further development and industrialization of fiber coating technologies
• Scaling of laboratory and pilot processes to series production
• Technical support and further development of fiber drawing, coating, and curing systems
• Analysis and sustainable resolution of process deviations (SPC, root cause)
• Technical lead in interdisciplinary development and customer projects
What you bring to the table:
• Degree in materials science, physics, chemical engineering, process engineering, or similar
• Several years of professional experience in fiber optic manufacturing or similar high-precision/high-temperature processes
• In-depth knowledge of:
. Glass fiber raw materials and preform technologies (MCVD, OVD, VAD, PCVD)
. Fiber drawing and coating processes
. Process control, production automation, and SPC
• Experience in industrializing and scaling complex processes
• Ideally, experience with specialty or sensor fibers
