Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and optimise IP/MPLS core network architectures, including routing, switching, and interconnects across multiple data centres.
* Develop high-level and low-level network designs, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
* Evaluate, select, and manage network vendors and hardware suppliers, ensuring technical requirements and standards are met.
* Lead or support technical projects: upgrades, migrations, new site builds, and network expansions.
* Perform advanced network troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex routing and performance issues.
* Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
* Provide expert-level input into network standards, capacity planning, and security best practices.
* Mentor junior network engineers and act as a senior escalation point for critical issues.
Skills/Must have:
* Significant hands-on experience in IP/MPLS network design and operations in a carrier, ISP, or large data centre environment.
* Deep understanding of routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, and traffic engineering.
* Solid knowledge of Juniper Networks platforms (EX, QFX, MX, SRX); additional multi-vendor experience (Cisco, Huawei, Nokia) is a plus.
* Strong documentation skills for network designs, diagrams, and project deliverables.
* Experience working with external vendors, hardware suppliers, and contract negotiation (RFP/RFQ processes).
* Proven experience managing network-related projects from concept through delivery.
* Fluent in German and English (written and spoken).
Nice-to-Have:
* Relevant certifications: JNCIP/JNCIE, CCNP/CCIE, or equivalent.
* Knowledge of network security principles and integration of firewalls and security appliances.
* Familiarity with SDN/NFV concepts in large-scale networks.
