Lead Golang Software Engineer, Commercial Systems Canonical is a leading provider of open‑source software and operating systems for global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, powers breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation and IoT. We are hiring a Lead Golang Software Engineer to design, develop and operate high‑quality services in our Commercial Systems unit. The Commercial Systems unit consists of six teams that collaborate closely with other engineering and business groups at Canonical. Below is an overview of the teams we are looking to staff: Billing team: builds a Golang service that converts metrics into billable amounts, allows customers to view real‑time spend, and ensures accurate, reliable, and timely billing. The service integrates with payment, CRM and accounting systems. Contracts team: creates a Golang service that serves as the single source of truth for all customer contracts. It provides CPQ capabilities, stores signed contracts in a structured format, and interfaces with CRM and accounting systems. Livepatch team: develops Golang components that deliver Linux kernel patches to shrink the exploit window for critical vulnerabilities, enabling inline patching while systems run. The team collaborates with the Kernel team that produces the security patches. Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.
