Standards Engineer OIF Electrical & Optical – Nokia

Responsibilities
* Develop and refine specifications for advanced optical pluggable transceivers, ensuring they meet industry standards.
* Draft, edit, and manage technical contributions for OIF, ITU-T, and other relevant standards bodies to advance Nokia's objectives.
* Collaborate with internal experts to build consensus on strategic positions and maintain alignment with corporate goals.
* Coordinate participation in standards meetings, presenting contributions and documenting outcomes effectively.
* Monitor and analyze developments in optical networking standards to identify opportunities and risks for Nokia.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product management, and legal, to ensure technical coherence.
* Utilize strong communication skills to represent Nokia’s interests in industry forums and with partners.
* Travel internationally as needed to engage with standards bodies and contribute to key meetings.
Qualifications
* Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field (PhD preferred)
* 7+ years of experience in optical networking or telecommunications
* Familiarity with standards organizations such as OIF, ITU-T, or IEEE
* Excellent technical writing and editing skills, proficient in collaborative document tools (e.g., Word, LaTeX, Git)
Nice to have
* Experience serving as an editor or rapporteur in a standards body
* Knowledge of advanced pluggable transceivers (e.g., 400ZR(+), 800ZR(+), 1600ZR(+))
* Understanding of intellectual property considerations in standards work
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
