Job Description Unique is a leading consulting firm for sustainable natural resource management, with a focus on forestry, agriculture and climate change. Unique’s headquarter is located in Freiburg, in the Southwest of Germany. The project “Bark Beetle Detection Dogs in a Field Trial” investigates the added value of trained detection dogs compared to conventional ground-based inspections for the early detection of spruce bark beetle infestation. As a working student, you will support field data collection by searching for and recording infested trees and examining felled trees to document brood development stages. Requirements You are a bachelor or master student in the field of forestry, or with a strong background regarding forestry related fields or entomology Experience and interest in identifying bark beetle infestations is an advantage Knowledge of QGIS, QField or other GIS-software or field-data collection apps is an asset but not required German language skills are an advantage; a minimum level of German language skills (B2) is required. Physical condition to work in steep and rough forest terrain Flexibility is required as weather conditions may occasionally lead to a rescheduling of our field-days A driving license is an asset What we offer Contract starting March 2026 until the end of November 2026; Possibility to extend the contract.
