Are you a Linux professional, Java enthusiast and Docker nerd who prefers PostgreSQL to Excel? Then read on: We are looking for you as a DevOp with a focus on software development for the data center of the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. If the following logos also mean something to you and you are experienced in working with these products, then you are exactly the right person for us!
With twelve faculties, around 10,000 students and 1,000 employees, Ostfalia is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Lower Saxony. Are you interested? Then we look forward to receiving your online application!
The working hours are 39.8 hours/week (100%). The position is suitable for part-time work. If applicable, please let us know what level of employment you are looking for.
Remuneration is in accordance with pay group 11 TV-L.
On the basis of the Lower Saxony Equal Opportunities Act (NGG), Ostfalia is working to achieve a balanced gender ratio in all pay groups. Women are underrepresented in this pay group at our university, so applications from women for this position are particularly welcome.
If equally qualified, we give preference to severely disabled people and people with equivalent qualifications. Please remember to indicate this in your cover letter or CV.
* B2 language level: Think of the B2 level as a big level-up. You have mastered the tutorial zones (A level) and the first areas (B1) and have now reached the endgame content. Now you can not only read the quest texts, but also understand complex patch notes or a long forum post about the latest meta. Even abstract topics are no longer a problem for you - for example, discussions about the logic behind a game mechanic or the philosophy of a sci-fi series. On your "home turf" - whether it's IT, quantum physics or the complete lore of Middle-earth - you can easily keep up with technical discussions. You're no longer just the one who listens and nods, you understand the arguments and can have your say as if you were reading the source code yourself
Communication with native speakers is now almost lag-free. The conversation is fluid and you no longer have to constantly buffer for words. The other person no longer needs a "patience buff" either. In short: now you can write the walkthroughs yourself. You can clearly structure your opinion on almost anything, back it up with details and argue convincingly - whether it's about the pros and cons of different Linux distributions or character development in "The Witcher".
Sounds exciting? Apply by 17.08.2025! We look forward to meeting you and your Linux friends - without any knowledge of Microsoft Windows!
For more information, please contact the head of the computer center, Dr.-Ing.
