We want an earth that is worth living on. Our applied research in Circular Economy, Carbon Management, Green Hydrogen and Local Energy Systems makes concrete contributions to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. As an institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, we show how to not only master challenges, but grow with them. We push boundaries, think ahead and shape the future with applied research. Diverse perspectives and approaches strengthen creativity and innovation in our scientific work.
Would you like to help us shape a sustainable world? We are looking for reinforcement!
The group “CAE and Plant Engineering” develops and integrates CAE interface solutions to link a wide variety of simulation and design tools (in-house software, commercial CFD and FEM programs, etc.) into end-to-end, plant-wide optimization processes. The focus is on fluid dynamics and structural mechanics simulations, as well as automated optimization workflows, which are used to efficiently and robustly design and further develop turbomachinery and other flow-through components.
Be part of change
* Research on ML-based approaches for the design of turbo-machine components
* Development of an overall concept for an ML-based framework for the design of turbo-machine components
* Collection and analysis of existing CFD data from previous compressor designs; identification of inconsistencies and processing into a consistent, usable training dataset
* Development of an automated workflow for building the ML model and evaluating its reliability and robustness
What you contribute
* Ongoing master's studies in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, or process engineering
* Solid knowledge of turbomachinery/fluid machinery
* Programming experience in Python
* Ability to work independently
* Interest in machine learning (ML)
