About us
Aeco is a start-up working to become one of the leading private, collaborative developers and financiers of peatland restoration projects across Europe and beyond.
Why Peatlands?
Peatlands cover just 3% of land but store nearly 30% of global soil carbon. When drained, they release ~5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Restoring them is one of the most powerful climate solutions—while also protecting biodiversity and water systems.
How we make a difference?
In a sector dominated by subsidies and slow public processes, aeco brings private-sector speed and collaboration. Aeco accelerates peatland restoration by combining restoration expertise, private finance, and digital tools. We build a platform where:
1. Land stewards get long-term payments for climate protection—at no cost and with continued cultivation options.
2. Corporates access local, transparent, high-quality carbon and potentially biodiversity credits.
3. Investors tap into a verified green asset class.
4. Restoration partners scale their impact through joint development, funding, and monitoring.
With a first project implemented and plenty more in the pipeline we deliver projects from sourcing to financing, certification, and monitoring— in a standardized, digital-first, and third-party validated way. Our objective is to restore at least 100.000 ha by 2030, scaling further in the 2030s.
Your task – help us build the technical foundation for climate protection!
To make our vision a reality, we’re looking for you – a technical all-rounder with curiosity and passion for both software and hardware. With us, you will develop web applications and a mobile app (primarily for Android) and make sure that our field equipment – from RTK GPS to water level loggers and other IoT devices – runs smoothly. You will also work with virtual systems and cloud components such as Postgres and Firebase databases, Docker environments on virtual servers, and open-source tools like OpenDataKit (ODK) or Geoserver, which need regular maintenance and updates.
Whether it’s Java, NodeJS, React, or Python: you enjoy software development and like to approach technical challenges and requirements pragmatically. At the same time, you’re curious about new tools and devices, enjoy experimenting, and help our team find innovative technological solutions to make our mission even more impactful.
In short: you are the technical link connecting our work in the field and in the office, bridging hardware, software, and cloud services.
