Duties & Responsibilities
* Origination & coverage: Lead proactive business development and coverage of technology-sector clients, cultivating long-term relationships with CEOs, founders, and financial sponsors.
* Process architecture: Design and orchestrate sophisticated transaction strategies, managing competitive deal dynamics and coordinating the interface between legal, tax, and accounting workstreams.
* Strategic advisory: Act as a primary advisor to clients on capital structure optimization, transaction architecture, and valuation strategy, providing senior-level technical and commercial insight.
* Deal negotiation: Drive the negotiation of key commercial terms and legal documentation, navigating complex stakeholder dynamics to achieve optimal outcomes for our clients.
* Team development: Manage and mentor junior bankers, overseeing the output of Analysts, Associates, and VPs while fostering a high-performance culture within the Munich office.
* Franchise growth & engagement: Spearhead the strategic expansion of our technology franchise in Munich by leading recruitment efforts and organizing high-impact local events for C-suite executives and the private equity community.
Candidate Profile
* Education: A top-tier Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Law with an outstanding academic track record is required. Additional qualifications such as an MBA, doctorate, or double degree are considered a distinct advantage.
* Experience: 7–10 years of relevant investment banking or M&A experience is required, with a proven track record of leading successful transactions in technology or high-growth sectors.
* Technical skills: Advanced mastery of complex financial modeling and transaction structuring; deep proficiency in leveraging databases and strategic tools to drive origination and deal flow.
* Analytical rigor: Exceptional commercial judgment with the ability to translate granular financial data into compelling strategic narratives for sophisticated boards.
* Language: Business fluency in German (C2 level) and professional proficiency in English are essential for leading mandates and negotiations in the DACH region.
* AI aptitude: Leverage and lead the implementation of bespoke AI platforms. Stifel has invested heavily in modern data architecture and AI-driven banking workflows to provide a competitive edge in advisory.
* Soft skills: Superior leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with senior executives under high-pressure scenarios.
