The Trade Compliance Specialist position is essential for efficient cross-border movements, identifying and handling risks.
What will you do?
1. Ensure that all import and export activities align with applicable laws and regulations, minimizing the risk of fines and penalties.
2. Classify products accurately according to commodity codes and Dual-Use regulations.
3. Facilitate import transactions, including coordinating imports from outside the EU/UK and providing classification details and instructions to freight forwarders.
4. Collaborate with internal departments and functions to ensure trade compliance procedures are consistently followed.
5. Liaise and consult with internal and external customers to provide guidance and support on trade compliance matters.
6. Support the company’s compliance program by participating in internal and external audits.
7. Lead communications and activities related to German customs audits, including collaborating closely with customs authorities.
8. Promote trade compliance awareness across the business through training and guidance initiatives.
How will you get here?
9. Strong knowledge of commodity code classification, with a minimum of 2–3 years’ experience classifying a wide range of goods and product families.
10. Confirmed experience in import and export operations within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
11. Proficient in managing partnerships, demonstrating effective communication with both internal and external clients.
12. Experience working with German customs authorities.
13. Familiarity with export licensing procedures.
