Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We want you as a talented Materials and Processes Engineer to help us in our mission by serving as a Materials and Processes expert, including Cleanliness and Contamination Control, welding, composites, and additive manufacturing for the Design, Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test of The Exploration Company's Nyx Earth spacecraft and future projects.
Key Responsibilities
In your capacity as a Materials and Processes Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:
* Perform trade studies for technical solutions related to Materials and Processes, including make/buy recommendations, especially for our storable and cryogenic propulsion systems.
* Define, maintain and close the Materials and Processes requirements and lists for Earth and Moon missions.
* Support the reviews at all levels of design documentations and specifications to ensure that the ESA and NASA standards are met with respect to Materials and Processes used in spaceflight hardware.
* Assess whether supplier processes meet Materials and Processes requirements (incl. for qualification and acceptance testing), and if not, provide recommendations.
* Define and qualify in-house inspection and manufacturing processes.
* Work in close collaboration with subsystem teams, MAIT and future projects to ensure efficient design for manufacturing, integration and testing, and reviewing CAD, manufacturing drawings, test and handling procedures to verify that they are compatible with the planned manufacturing processes and flight performance.
* Define, own and enforce M&P standards, requirements, verifications and certification.
What we would love to see from you
In the role of Materials and Processes Engineer ideally, you will have the following:
* Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in Engineering, aerospace engineering, or another related field; Materials Science is a plus
* Minimum of 5 years of experience working in materials and process engineering, on fluidic systems, experience in non-toxic storable propulsive systems and / or cryogenic propulsive systems is appreciated
* Some knowledge in programming (Python, Fortran, Matlab...) is preferred
* Fluent in English. German and French are an asset
