About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer to support the planning and delivery of EV charging infrastructure projects across Germany. Based around Frankfurt, you will be responsible for developing technical designs for AC and DC charging systems, ensuring compliance with German regulations and industry standards.
This role will cover the full design lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to detailed engineering and handover to construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed electrical and layout designs for EV charging installations using AutoCAD
* Perform electrical calculations, including cable sizing, protection coordination, and voltage drop calculations
* Design systems in line with German standards (e.g. DIN VDE regulations, TAB requirements)
* Support grid connection (Netzanschluss) applications and liaise with local Distribution System Operators (DSOs)
* Review site surveys and develop optimised, cost-effective technical solutions
* Create single-line diagrams, schematics, and construction-ready drawings
* Collaborate with project managers, installers, and external stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with health & safety and technical regulations
* Support technical documentation for tenders and client proposals
Key Requirements
* Degree or qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field
* Proven experience in electrical design, ideally within EV charging, renewable energy, or infrastructure
* Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
* Solid experience in cable sizing, load calculations, and electrical system design
* Good knowledge of DIN VDE standards and German grid connection processes
* Experience working with DSOs / utilities in Germany (preferred)
* Ability to read and produce technical drawings and schematics
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Fluent in German and English
Desirable
* Experience with EV charging
* Familiarity with tools such as EPLAN, Dialux, or similar
* Knowledge of load management systems and smart charging
