What does the role of GL Accountant look like at our company?
As GL Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. You will be responsible for the day-to-day general ledger activities, monthly and year-end closings, and supporting financial reporting in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Highlights of your responsibilities:
* Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and provisions.
* Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
* Reconcile balance sheet accounts and follow up on discrepancies.
* Support financial reporting and analysis in line with local GAAP and IFRS.
* Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and explanations.
* Collaborate closely with AP, AR, controlling, and other finance stakeholders.
* Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
* Support tax, compliance, and statutory reporting activities.
What we are looking for in you
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* You have 4-6 years of experience in a general ledger or accounting role.
* Solid knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS and/or local GAAP), and advanced knowledge of VAT rules and tax laws.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Comfortable working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar).
* Strong knowledge of Excel applications, and the Microsoft Office package.
* Structured, reliable, and able to work independently.
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
* Fluent in English and German; additional languages are a plus.
