Institute: The Institute of Orthopaedic Research and Biomechanics (www.biomechanics.de) investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying musculoskeletal disorders with the aim of developing novel therapeutic strategies. The institute contributes to the Trauma Research Center Ulm (ZTF), the Collaborative Research Centre CRC9, and the CRC6. Our research combines innovative experimental methods, interdisciplinary approaches, and extensive national and international collaborations. Project description: The projects focus on the regulation of bone regeneration, particularly in the context of osteoporosis and impaired fracture healing. The aim is to improve the understanding of molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating bone turnover and repair in order to identify novel therapeutic strategies. The two PhD projects will address distinct aspects of this research field. The methodological spectrum includes mouse models, cell culture techniques, molecular biology, (immune)histology, and imaging techniques. PhD students will have the opportunity to join the International Graduate School of Molecular Medicine Ulm (IGradU).
